Having a Yarn

The ‘Having a Yarn’ project is about more than just nattering!

It’s an intergenerational arts project, funded by the Arts Council NI and in collaboration with Libraries NI in Bangor, Comber and Donaghadee areas.
The project has brought together the ‘Knit and Knatter’ groups facilitated by the local libraries together with pupils from Bangor Central, Andrew’s Memorial Comber and St Annes Donaghadee Primary Schools to create art based around knitting and yarn – or what’s better known as ‘yarn bombing’. The idea is to bring the generations together through the practical and fun activity of yarn art, allowing the participants to share skills, creative ideas and interests and of course have a yarn!
The art creations are then going to be displayed publicly throughout the schools and libraries and will be part of joint celebration events including all participants throughout June.
