Age Friendly School's Project Lisburn Castlereagh!
LGNI are delighted to have be delivering this exciting Age friendly schools project in with funding from the Legal & General Health Equity Fund! The project will support six schools and their pupils ( three primary and three post primary) in the Lisburn Castlereagh Council area to develop intergenerational activities throughout the school year.
LGNI believe that truly Age-friendly communities are healthier communities and places where all ages are connected, respected, valued and engaged together. We have engaged Vicki Titterington Consulting to deliver this work for us alongside Joyce Savage (consultant), Brenda Kent (evaluator) and Andrew Mc Allister (videographer). The team will work alongside schools and in partnership with Lisburn and Castlereagh Borough Councils Age friendly Officer to utilise LGNI's vast intergenerational knowledge and resources to support quality and sustainable connections between generations.
Recruitment is now underway with the key elements of the project including:
- Intergenerational training and best practice session for teachers
- Age awareness and intergenerational activity planning sessions for pupils
- Development of intergenerational links and calendar of activities
- Running of intergenerational activities with budget for all schools involved
- Celebration event to showcase achievements, evaluation and promotional video
