Cavan & Fermanagh “LinkAGES Across Borders” Groups, come together for the first time!

24 May 2025

Our  LinkAGES Across Borders Project – Linking Generations NI project members came together today for the first time, to get to know each other through fun activities and discussions about how we think about age, stereotypes and the benefits of intergenerational practice!

Members from "Positive Age" Cavan group, travelled by bus with their new younger friends from Cavan UBU, Foróige to be hosted by their counterparts in Fermanagh, the "Forget me Not" older peoples group from the Devenish Partnership Forum and  younger people from Youth Action's Brookborough Youth Club.

The day began with a workshop looking at what Intergenerational practice is, what the benefits are and how the practice can break down barriers between generations, while removing stereotypes and misconceptions that one age group may have about the other!

Everyone then enjoyed a lovely lunch together, before taking to the banks of Lough Erne to enjoy some fun Bushcraft activities! Although the Fermanagh weather turned soggy on the day, it didn't dampen everyone's spirits and we look forward to the upcoming planning sessions that will take place in each county, as the groups decide on how their funding budget for activities should be spent!
