LGNI November Network Meeting Recording!

LGNI's Network membership has been steadily growing since its inception in 2018 with over 1075 people/organisations/settings now registered!  Our virtual approach to meetings allows us to engage more widely and connect people across NI interested and involved in intergenerational practice.  With summer just upon us and so much amazing work happening over the last few months we held our first ever regional intergenerational meeting last week and were delighted with the attendance!   The meeting was attended by 29 people and included an update from LGNI, networking and presentations from a range of LGNI supporters.  A massive thank you to them all - Peninsula Healthy Living Partnership, The Polish Sisterhood, Assumption Grammar Ballynahinch, Hawthorn House Care Home, Bloomfield Collegiate School, Heather Cassidy Artist and Ulster University.

LGNI's work plays a vital role in the Age-friendly Movement across NI and we were delighted to welcome Age-friendly Officers from across NI to the meeting.

So far 13 attendees have provided feedback on the meeting which included:

  • 85% felt they had benefitted from attending
  • 54% said it was there first time attending an LGNI network meeting

Comments on reason attended included:

"Info on LGNI's Work, to pick up some ideas, get a bit of inspiration and maybe a contact or two. All of these expectations were met. I found it very helpful and inspiring."

"To learn, share ideas, and gain new experience from others. Most of my expectations were met — especially hearing about different intergenerational approaches and seeing how others structure their projects."

Comments on benefits of meeting included:

"A better awareness of other organisations with associations to this group. All invited speakers spoke with passion about their involvement & the positive impact on groups & society. It was a very enriching experience to listen to others."

"Good to see what all is happening across the country, interesting to hear like minded people speak passionately about a shared interest"

"It was inspiring to hear anecdotes about the success of intergenerational work, but also to hear about the research from UU which backs it all up. It has got me thinking about how the King's Trust can do more intergenerational work on some of our programmes."
