LinkAGES Across Borders, first joint sessions complete!

19 May 2025

Elaine from LGNI has recently delivered "Getting to know you" sessions in both Fermanagh and Cavan as part of the LinkAGES Across Borders Project – Linking Generations NI that recently got underway!

In Fermanagh, members of the "Forget me Not" older peoples group from the Devenish Partnership Forum, came together with younger people from Youth Action's Brookborough Youth Club and spent time getting to know each other in late April. Ice breaker games were played and discussions were had around what the county has to offer them, where the group collaborated on the "must see or do's" of the local area!

In Cavan, members of the older peoples "Positive Age" group teamed up with younger people from Cavan UBU, Foróige and completed the same session in mid May, allowing for relationships to form and commonalities to be identified, reminding us all that age really is just a number! The youth group in Cavan are all originally from Ukraine and so this cross generational, cross border project, offers another facet to its objectives, with multi-cultural participants!

As with both sessions, everyone came together to enjoy afternoon tea and chatted with ease among each other.

The first Cross Border meet up will take place this weekend, where Enniskillen's Devenish Partnership Forum will host their Cavan neighbours and come together as one big group to discuss what Intergenerational practice is all about, challenge stereotypes and complete some fun activities!
