We are delighted to be a part of this amazing intergenerational connection between Nendrum College Pupils and older people who live in Alpha Housing Scheme, Stepping Stones in Comber. Both settings are within walking distance of one another, previously had links before Covid ,but unfortunately these had broken down. Vicki from LGNI was happy to offer some support to rebuild the links and also utilise the ideas, enthusiasm and resources of the school and pupils.
Ms Black set up a group in the school interested in taking part and Vicki delivered some short training sessions with the young people focused on Age Awareness and intergenerational ideas development. The pupils then went to visit Stepping Stones to present their ideas and get to know the older people and find out their interests for activities.
The group have decided to link on Thursdays after school for an hour and so far have had an Show & Tell Session of treasured objects, two Arts Sessions led by their arts teacher, armchair aerobics and a Christmas Party! They have plans for activities until the end of March and hopefully longer. We hope you enjoy the lovely photos from their activities so far!
