NI Schools Get Ready to Celebrate GIW26!

LGNI are delighted to be partnering with Twinkl NI to support schools across NI to celebrate Global Intergenerational Week 2026 #GIW26!

To support schools to take part LGNI are utilising our expertise and also resources created in partnership with Twinkl NI to put teachers and pupils in the lead!  Our funders Public Health Agency NI have enabled us to provide vouchers to all participating schools to use for their intergenerational activities.

A support session was held for all schools taking part on the 26th February 3-5pm and an information pack provided.  The key focus of this programme is for Schools to support pupils to take the lead in developing their own intergenerational activities/events to celebrate the week.  Teachers will use LGNI Twinkl resources including a powerpoint to involve their pupils in discussions about age and what intergenerational means then coming up with their ideas.

The schools taking part are:

  • Meadow Bridge Primary School Lisburn
  • Bangor Central Integrated Primary School
  • Carrickmannon Primary School Ballygowan
  • Ballinamallard Primary School Fermanagh
  • St Josephs Primary School Tyrella
  • St Oliver Plunkett Primary School Derry/Londonderry
  • St Josephs Primary School Strangford

We can't wait to see what GIW26 activity ideas the schools come up with!  We look forward to their updates and for them to share their intergenerational positivity across communities, social media and local news!
