Marina Care Home Magherafelt are one of four participating Care Home's in LGNI's Intergenerational Arts Project LinkAge & Art! LGNI supported Marina to make a link with Woods Primary School and all of the pupils undertook Dementia Friend training. Local Artist Diane McCormick was commissioned to facilitate intergenerational arts sessions between the residents and pupils during fun filled weekly arts sessions at Marina Care Home.
The project has fostered fantastic links between the pupils and older people and also between the school and care home and staff. Last week a fantastic celebration took place at Marina Care Home to showcase everyone's amazing artwork and recognise their participation! Although everyone is sad that the project has ended they are keen to keep up their connections and maintain these all year round!
