On the 17th June the Saintfield Community celebrated the success of their intergenerational arts collaboration as part of LGNI's 'REAP What You Sow Through Art'. The whole community enjoyed a BBQ and unveiling by the Chair of Saintfield Community Association at Saintfield Men's Shed. Pupils from Saintfield High School joined forces with Saintfield Men's Shed to create a handcrafted bench using the Art of pyrography for the community to enjoy. Marketa B local Artist facilitated the arts sessions over a couple of months supporting the intergenerational group to develop their ideas and skills. The completed bench is hand decorated with designs focused on local history, landmarks and interests. We are completely amazed by the finished art piece which will act as a beautiful art legacy for all of the community to enjoy as well as a reminder of the project!
The project was one of three supported by LGNI as part of our 'REAP What You Sow Through Art' project funded by the Arts Council for Northern Ireland Lottery Good Causes Rural Engagement in Arts Programme.
Thanks to everyone who took part in this fantastic community collaboration, your hard work really paid off and we hope you all enjoyed it! Check out the lovely pics below!
Keep an eye on our website and socials for the final report of all three projects in the coming months!
