Creating Intergenerational Connections Report Launched!

LGNI are delighted to launch this report highlighting the activities and impact of creating intergenerational connections between schools and older people's settings. Jointly funded by the Halifax Foundation NI and the Public Health Agency.

The funding enabled LGNI staff to identify and develop new intergenerational partnerships and activities between the following settings:

  • Laurelhill Community College & Laurelhill Care Home (Lisburn)
  • Bloomfield Collegiate & Johnston Court (East Belfast)
  • Currie Primary School & Camberwell Court (Belfast)
  • St Oliver Plunkett Primary School & Louisville Nursing Home (Belfast)

The project aimed to achieve the following objectives:

Objective One:

Levels of skills, self-esteem and self-worth amongst older and younger people and increased Intergenerational practice capacity within communities and organisations will increase.

Objective Two:

Decreased loneliness, isolation and fear amongst and between people of all ages, more positive attitudes and empathy towards other generations and increased connections to community.
