Intergenerational Training for SRC Newry Students!

Over the last few years LGNI have developed a positive relationship with the Health & Social Care Department and Tutors in Southern Regional College Newry.   The College recognise the importance of practice based learning opportunities for their students and the relevance of intergenerational practice to the Health & Social Care curriculluum.

LGNI have supported the College by training several cohorts of students over the past few years which has led to the students developing a range of intergenerational connections, activities and events as part of their studies.

We are delighted to have once again trained a enthusiastic group of students who will hopefully carry their new learning and skills forward as part of their studies and also as skills for life and work.

Thanks to all who took part and a BIG WELL DONE!  Check out some of the fantastic feedback below:

  • I enjoyed today – it changed my perspective and I now want to take part in these activities
  • Lots of usable information to use in my work experience
  • I learnt about how beneficial interactions are with elderly people
  • I learnt about intergenerational training activities and how every age group can come together
  • An insight into the benefits of intergenerational activities
  • Was immersive and factual
  • I learned the benefits of intergenerational practice and why it is important.
  • What I enjoyed learning about was how the different ages can be so different but the same
  • Elderly people are just the same as young people
  • Spent lovely time with our class
  • Collaboration with team
  • The coffee mornings we do in SRC are a good example of intergenerational as they are fun and we get to socialise
