Laurelhill College and Knockbreda Primary Intergenerational and Dementia Workshops!
Joyce recently visited Laurelhill Community College Year 13 Health & Social Care Students and Knockbreda Primary P6's to talk to them about intergenerational practice and to provide some Dementia awareness. The visits requested by their teachers provided valuable information and preparation for their visits to Laurel Hill House Care Home and Annadale Care Home respectively.
We are very proud of both of these school examples who have really embraced intergenerational approaches to what they do following initial engagements with LGNI.
Laurelhill first engaged with us as part of LGNI's Halifax Foundation NI funded project Creating Intergenerational Connections which supported them to make an initial link with neighbouring setting Laurel Hill House. 3 years on the school have continued to sustain this link and offer the opportunity to their students each year as part of their education and skills for life and work.
Knockbreda Primary School first engaged with LGNI as part of LGNI's CLEAR funded
Age Exchange project receiving support from LGNI to develop links and activities with Annadale Care Home. Their connection has grown from strength to strength over the last 3 years and they recently took part as one of 10 NI pilots in in LGNI's
Creating Intergenerational Communities Project!
Well done to all involved and thanks for your support for intergenerational practice! We can't wait to see your updates!
