Sarah Visits the Kindness Postbox Enniskillen

16 November 2021

Sarah finally made it down to meet Nuala and the Kindness Postbox. It is the perfect example of how big things can grow from tiny ideas.

Nuala came along to an LGNI Network meeting in Fermanagh and Omagh and shared she wanted to connect generations in her local community during the pandemic. One way to do this safely would be through a letter exchange using a Kindness Postbox and from this tiny spark, a project was born. |She attended our Intergenerational Training to expand her idea and has been supported by LGNI at every stage of her journey.

To meet demand 4 new Postboxes have been built by a local Men’s Shed as the project expanded outside of Fermanagh and Omagh into other council areas and is currently booked up with hosts well into the New Year!

Up until the end of Oct 2021 the Postboxes have received over 1665 letters connecting with 1595 residents in Care Homes. It was a joy for Sarah to finally meet up with Nuala and the Postbox in person. Having watched the project grow and develop-keep up the amazing work!!
