School Pupils take the lead on Intergenerational Action in Portadown!

22 November 2021

It's great to be back out in the Community! LGNI's Lynne B met with an amazing group of pupils from St. John the Baptist's College last week to support them to take intergenerational action in their community. We are keen to support more schools to take this approach which helps with educational outcomes and is good for older people.  Our support will involve delivering training workshops with the pupils to develop their intergenerational  ideas and community links.  Big thanks to the pupils and their teacher and please get in touch if your school is interested we want to help!

After their session, pupils in the 'Community leaders group' of St John The Baptist College in Portadown set up a Christmas kindness postbox & sent cards and letters to their local care home, resulting in them receiving letters back from residents, wishing to explore cookery and art together, virtually!  LGNI are pleased  to be able to inspire and empower young people to take action in their communities and capitalise on the resources that older and younger persons in these settings can offer each other.
